Introduction to Power Query

Who is it for?

This course is aimed at Excel users and BI professionals who want to learn how to use Power Query to load data into Excel and use it with Power Pivot and the rest of the Power BI stack

What you will learn

The following topics will be covered on the course:

  • Understanding where Power Query fits in with the rest of the Power BI stack
  • Extracting data with Power Query: relational databases, text files, OData feeds and more
  • Creating Power Query transformations in the user interface
  • Loading data to Excel tables and the Excel Data Model/Power Pivot
  • Writing expressions and queries in M
  • Working with multiple queries and data sources, and understanding data privacy settings
  • Sharing queries via the Power BI Data Catalog

The course will include practical exercises, and for attendees to take part they must bring a laptop with Excel 2013 and Power Query installed.
